Flute Quest

I joined the Washington State Flute Circle this spring and while we were home we attended several local  circles.  We made new friends and played our flutes with lots of new people.  In August we volunteered at the major gathering of the year.  It is called Flute Quest and is held at Saltwater State Park.

This is the New Breath Stage which is an open mike opportunity for anyone who wants to play.  Some bring up flutes, drums, guitars, etc.

John, our mc, makes announcements while two performers exchange places for the next set.

Johnny Lipford is a 23 year old professional flute player with 6 cds released.  He flew in from Florida.  We took a private lesson from him that was very helpful.  He is a very good teacher and a great musician.

There were also concerts on Friday and Saturday nights, but we were tired after working all day since Thursday.  Maybe next year.

I took a couple of workshops and Tom bought me a drum.

  • Duane and Therese Gillbertson were there as vendors for their Walkabouts and Highspirit Flutes.  We gave them a hand all weekend as well as working for the event.

Seaside last spring...

The Prom at Seaside and the main beach.
A surprise at the center of town...the Olympia, Washington High School Marching Band.

They gave us an impromptu Memorial Day Concert.

It seems it can never be too cold for surfers and fishermen, (or for Linda at the beach.)

This is the rocky beach at the south side of Seaside.  Tom was still cold and not happy.

This was Newport, Oregon in early May;  cold, wet cloudy.  Tom wasn't very happy.  Since I found an eagle, I was.  The beach is always fine with me.
