So here we are in Moses Lake, Washington to meet up with Tom's cousin before our trip this year. We have a very good friend of many years who lives here. Sherrie is still working at Frontier Middle School (which is how we met her, we were all in PSE together). We had her over for dinner and she was introduced to our flutes. She asked if we would consider demonstrating them for the music teacher. We said sure, love to.
So on Tuesday, before we left the state we went to the school and were going to give a presentation for one band class. We ended up setting out our collection during the 6th grade choir class and they were so excited
we agreed to give them a session as well.
The class was very attentive and performed their newest piece complete with multiple part harmony. They were great.
The 6th grade band was next (this was the original group). Our friend Sherrie is in back witht Tom and I. These were some of the kids who were able to try our instruments. The presentation went so well, the teacher asked if we would consider doing another session with the 7th grade band next. Oh, sure, why not? We're retired.
I explained the flutes and other instruments we have, some of the history, etc., then the teacher chose students to try them.
They found the flutes were easy in some ways and not so much in others.
Many said they would like to have one and the teacher even bought one. It looks like we may go back in the spring before we go home.
